McLeary's Café

"We decided to try here as we had passed it many times and had been told by family it was quite good. Unfortunately the only thing of any great quality was the waiting staff - Who are very nice and seem to go above and beyond to provide great service. *Id avoid this place breakfast if I was you and just travel 2 minutes up the road to hook and ladder. a(We left McLearys and went there when finished it was that disappointing) * I ordered egg's benedict when it first came out - the yellow was rock solid and the hollandaise sauce had started to split on top of the egg. I brought this to the attention of the waitress - and straight away she came over, apologized and instantly went to replace it with a fresh order. While I was delighted, unfortunately when it came back out - the hollandaise sauce was still split on top of the eggs. I brought this to the attention of the waiter after a few minutes as I didn't want to send it back again but I couldn't eat it. Again she was very very attentive. But when she came back out the chef had sent her out to explain to me that it was not splitting or curddled as I had described it but it was just the way they make there hollandaise sauce. stored cold(which isn't a problem)...but heated under the grill. While hollandaise sauce must be heated delicately. A grill is nearly always very very hot - as a result Im not surprised it had split on the top of the eggs as they would be the closest to the heat. I tried to exaplain this to the waitress. But, she informed be that she was not going to go back to the chef as she said 'you know what chefs are like'. As a result, I left it at that as he clearly doesn't care or wasn't bothered to do the job correctly. Which was not only evident in my breakfast but the bacon served to my partner was clearly another item pre cooked and probably reheated under a grill. Im sure if I had of ordered something a little simpler like the french toast it would have been lovely. But if its on the menu, you should be able to produce the dish properly. Id avoid this place breakfast if I was you and just travel 2 minutes up the road to hook and ladder. always great food of a consistent standard. (We left McLearys and went there when finished it was that disappointing)"

"Everything from the greeting to the waitress and the food was exceptional. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing where you could have a conversation. The only small niggle, and it us small, the classical music playing in the background was a little bit too loud."

"Having drove past McLeary’s cafe it stood out and looked like a great place for a breakfast. We pinned it in google maps and came for breakfast and it was a treat. The place is so lovely inside with relaxing music setting a nice vibe and offers great menu options and really delivers. Would highly recommend dropping into McLeary’s Cafe - it won’t disappoint."
