"I suffer from intermittent arthritis in my left hip. 28 days out of the month it is fine, the other 2 it's agony. Today was one of those days, so i went to Cosgraves to purchase Nurofen +. Having previously been 2 years on the waiting list and crutches for my right hip replacement, i know what painkillers work for me. I was asked what was i taking them for (arthritis), had i taken them before (yes), was i on any other medication (no). I was told they weren't for long term use and there were other medications available. I said i was aware and they didn't work. I was then told i needed a prescription for codeine (a lie), which i challenged, this changed to "prescription for long term use of codeine" which I'm sure is the truth, however I'm not sure having previously taken codeine 4 months ago constitutes long term use. At no point was i asked the last time i took codeine. When i tried to explain i had a prescription for tramadol (an opioid!) But didnt want to use it, I was talked over loudly with "you need a prescription for codeine" until she turned her back on me. I found the person serving me rude, dismissive, completely apathetic and lacking any kind of empathy. I'm not sure if there was something about me this person did not like the look of or what, but over the years i have bought many products off you since collecting prescriptions for my grandmother 30 years ago, including codeine products, and i have never been lied to to deny me service, nor treated with such contempt and disrespect. Terrible service. I walked 200m (in pain) down the road to moorefield pharmacy where i answered their questions(including when the last time i took codeine was) and was served with a smile. I will never set foot in Cosgraves again."
