Reviews
"Lovely spot for a pint after a cliff walk. Yummy nosh too, chicken burgers/fish n chips and chowder went down a treat. Dog friendly too if you have the pooch."
"A word to visiting Americans: this is the authentic small town pub experience you are looking for. We pulled into town after dark. The drive from Dublin had been rainy and long. A publican in Dublin(Johnny at Bleeker Street) had recommended the Blackbird when he heard our next stop was in Ballycotton. It was February. So, off season. We walked in from the rain. 7 of us including my 82 year old mother. The young bartender said he was sorry but they didn’t have food until the weekend this time of year. We all got on our phones looking for a place to eat and Mossie, the owner came over and told us that there was a take away place that would deliver to us there. Helped us get on the wifi, to place our order etc. we found a table in the corner. Soon Mossie came back out and told us they had built a fire and opened “The music room” for us. We went back and found a cozy, comfortable room with a rugby game on the TV and a roaring fire to sit by. Mossie and the younger bartender kept checking on us, drinks and stories, it was amazing. The next night we returned in the evening. The music room was packed with locals for folk night. There were people playing fiddles, guitars, Bohdran drums, and playing lots of familiar Irish pub songs. Another night with Mossie and crew catering to our every need. Friday was our last night in town and it was packed. Fresh food in the back. Fish and chips as well as curries etc. By far the highlight of our trip through Ireland. Excellent and easy."
"Great spot you order food out the back and get a buzzer to let you know food is ready really quick service and excellent portion sizes"
"An absolute hidden gem. Two lads serving at the bar were great craic. The food out the back was fab. Locally sourced, and full of flavour. Definitely worth a detour if you're anywhere in East Cork."
