"6.5 hours with a 22 month old who we wanted to have checked for potential neck/ spine injury. Triage nurse didn't listen when we said he had fallen and marked us as 'non-trauma'. Only after 4 hours were told that if he had been labelled correctly we would not have been waiting so long. Even when they finally understood my son's situation we were waiting another 2 hours for an x ray. We were only ever seen to after we threatened to leave. I know the hospital is short staffed... But I should have alternative options if they can't see a toddler for a neck injury. In the end I now have to go out patient because I could not get my exhausted baby to settle long enough to have an x ray taken. Totally horrendous experience. Wouldn't wish it on anyone let alone a baby."
"Unsafe. Terrible. Had to go to A&E after a work place needle stick injury and have blood taken. Walked into a very quiet main reception on a Sunday morning Bank Holiday weekend at 07:25 Was triaged at 07:35 and then told to wait back out in main reception. 11:10 got a call from a nurse wondering if I was still in the hospital. Finally brought down to zone A and had my blood taken at 11:40. However the nurse who took my blood had very poor technique. Firstly she walked into the cubicle already wearing gloves. (How long had she been wearing them?) She did not clean or wipe down the cubicle trolly that she used, and where I had to place my arm. Instead of taking blood from my Median cubital vein she decided to go for the smaller vains in my hand which was slow going. Then took the needle out before releasing the pressure from the tourniquet. (Very poor practice) And finally when she was done with everything, did not remove her gloves or wash her hands before leaving the cubicle. Disgusting! In our interaction I never saw her clean her hands once, and when she left she was wearing the same gloves she was wearing when she entered. So long infection control, have a nice day! It’s the most basic rule in patient interaction, wash your f@&king hands!!!!!"
"Currently in 7B Post surgery yesterday, the care I have received from pre op to theatre and up here in the ward has been second to none. Every staff member I came in contact with have been kind, friendly and so hard working."
