Ikon Hair Cork

"Although my experience did happen over a year ago now, I just stumbled across a picture I took in the salon which reminded me of it. The initial consultation went well, I explained that my hair had recently began to start thinning due to the bleach from the highlights which I had been getting for a few years prior and we discussed a balayage as an alternative as it would allow for longer periods between appointments and allow for my hair to grow and hopefully improve. I was more than happy with this suggestion and continued on to do a patch test and book my appointment. All was well until the process began, as I had never previously gotten a balayage I was not familiar with any of the techniques and just allowed the hairdresser to work away and work his magic! However, after a while something did not seem right. The process he used was to tease my hair and apply the bleach on the unteased parts, I did not question this but did notice how silly I looked during as my hair just looked like a big birds nest, if i recall correctly the sections were teased up to 6/8 times (i don’t remember for certain but after the appointment i met up with one of my friends for a meal and she remarked that when she gets her hair done it’s only ever back combed 3 times at most and she was extremely shocked that my hair was done over double that!). When the bleach was to be washed out 3 of the stylists that were present were working on trying to brush out the knots which had formed and i could audibly hear my hair ripping as this was happening. When i sat down for the hair cut portion of the appointment more of my hair was falling out into the brush in clumps which were almost dread like and very gummy, at that stage i took one and placed it into the book i was reading as i was extremely worried and could feel the big difference in the weight of my hair. At this stage the salon was closing and I was the last client left and I just wanted to leave as I was already late for the meal. Although I do understand that everyone’s hair is different and it may have been something to do with the product i already had in my hair, products used in the salon or the technique used by the stylist i cannot help but voice my disappointment even though it is late, given the prices of the service (especially for a student!) i do believe that the hairdresser should have noticed that something may have been wrong earlier or at least offered a reparative treatment (even though i know the salon was closing at that time but i could have called back another day). Unfortunately my hair has still not returned to its prior thickness and i cannot help but believe that a large reason why is due to that day."
