"Me and my partner booked in January 2023 for a date in February 2023, with a gift voucher worth £140 given to her by her nan. We called up, they'd sorted the dates and told us we were good to go. On the day we arrived (after travelling 60 miles), the hotel was closed at 12:00pm. We couldn't get through on the phone, so we went to nearby Shrewsbury to kill some time. We returned at 3:00pm to still find it closed. After knocking at the door, we finally managed to speak to someone who turned out to be the manager, who looked like he'd just gotten out of bed. He told us there was no gas or electricity (other reviews on here state similar excuses when people have turned up and it's been closed) and he assured us he would sort it. We reluctantly returned home and rang 20+ times, only to be cut off each time. We tried emailing again, but kept recieving a generic "we are closed" automated email and their Instagram is hardly used. Even the voucher company we had to go through to try and get our money back couldn't get in touch, even after a week and so we LOST £140 because of this poor excuse for a hotel. On top of that, we got left a request to review email from their website and even if you add a 1 star, it automatically changes it to a 5 star review when posted to their site. Believe the other poor reviews on here and avoid."

"One star is optimistic. Booked here a few weeks ago for a special occasion (hen party afternoon tea) for 21 people. Once I announced to the group where the afternoon tea would be, I got a call from a family member who knows the owners saying "Amy you haven't paid have you, because they are extremely unreliable and will cancel on you last minute or you'll turn up and they will just be closed, no notice", I just don't want you to be let down" I'm like surely not with a large group for a special occasion, they wouldn't just let us down, especially after the discussion we about another venue letting us down but low and behold! Last night I had a call at 18:03 saying they are cancelling the booking with less then 24 hours to find a new venue for 21 people! They said its due to covid, however I am sceptical due to the phone call I had warning me this will happen!! I mean if they genuinely do have covid then I hope they are ok and make a full recovery but I'm pretty sure it was an excuse!! Completely unreliable place, definitely won't be booking anything here again. Such a shame because it used to be lovely. Thankfully I obviously anticipated this happening and booked another venue, thank god otherwise we'd of had a very upset bride!"

"Pub was lovely and staff very friendly, unfortunately the accommodation was terrible. Twin room, one of the beds was really squeaky. Cobwebs and dead spiders behind beds and in bathroom. Shower hadn't been cleaned from previous occupant as used shower gel bottles left on shelf. Lovely idea to leave porridge pots and croissants for breakfast, until I bit into a croissant and noticed it was green with mould. Reported this to management who promised a refund. Still waiting 2 months on."

"Awful. Restaurant was freezing most people kept coats on. Supposed to have the best chefs (green man chefs) they lasted a week as didn’t get on with manager. Food was cold after waiting 1.5 hours. Manager wouldn’t speak to us about complaint just sent bar staff who hid round the corner. This was our second visit. The first visit food was bland & slow serving (summer) will not go again"
