"I stayed in the Gables for the first time in February - March 1995 ! 25 years ago, as young student from Romania.. So nice memories... The host, a charming lady, her daughter and especially her grand daughter Elisabeth (Beth), back then a charming little girl at the age of 6... I hope sometime to come back with the same delight. I am so nostalgic?"

"The reviews written previously must have been with the old management. My partner and I have stayed for a month on business and didn't really want to leave. Beautifully decorated double room with a brand new high standard en suite lovely comfy and clean bed. Fresh soft matching towels. The manager is a intelligent and vibrant girl that is very attentive to all your needs. Fresh bedding, toiletries and tissue all offered every 2 days without fail. Above standard for the price. I'd live here permanently if it was a choice ☺"

"Myself and a friend came to Hull for a gig, we arranged to stay at the gables because there was literally nowhere else available at such short notice as there was also a festival on. From the outset it set off alarm bells. Piles of rubbish in the front garden, then we went in... the place looked like a bomb had gone off, it was disgusting, the ceiling in the kitchen area was hanging off and the manager was nowhere to be found. We did speak to a resident however, it turns out that it's a hotel for ex-addicts and prisoners. We ended up sleeping in my van. My guess is that they don't want/need your business."

"By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!! Absolutely filthy, curtains hanging off the rails, carpet coming up, mould on the walls, rubbish in the room, coffee stains on the cabinets, cobwebs; all this in a shoe box sized room, impressive! Now, you think that's bad... The shower room was unsurprisingly dirty, toilet paper stuck on the walls and no light in a room with no windows! When I mentioned to the hotel staff that the shower room light did not work, I was told 'that's what the lamp is for', unbelievable! You were probably wondering what the random picture of a lamp next to a toilet was... Gabels private hotel, you should be ashamed!!"
