Reviews
"Wildlife conservation and ecology course at UCR has been brilliant. Teaching staff are very knowledgeable on their subjects and they will help you in any way they can. Lots of opportunities to do field surveys to Somerset as well as monitoring wildlife on campus. Topics include wildlife rehabilitation, ecological restoration, biology of herpetofauna. Library staff are really nice and always very helpful. It would be good if they could include botany to the curriculum as that is part of the habitat."
"The course I am on is good and the lecturers are lovely and really helpful. I have nothing bad to say about the course other than the organisation could be a little bit better. However, safeguarding can be rude and speak to you like you are a child, we are university students not primary school kids. Judging from previous reviews this is a common thing. Some safeguarding staff are lovely though, its not all that are rude. They also seem to pick favourites."
"Please just go to a different college not here. I went to the animal management side of the college for around a year until i left from rage. This is everything that happened when i was here. 1.) Staff could not care less about the conditions of the animals. I was in the rodent section quite a lot and they were missing so many things they needed , wheel , toys ect. The animals were so stressed it was very sad to see. told the staff and they handled the situation terribly and treated me badly when i offered to help!! 2.) Staff put the animals in danger a few times. I told the staff that we needed to get some more enrichment for the animals as they had none , we all decided to go outside and pick up some rodent friendly sticks and leafs for them to chew on. The staff member came back with loads of different types of wood which i explicitly told her NOT to use as they where deadly to the animals she was giving them to. are you even provided the information in front of her and she said “it will be fine”???!!! what annoyed me the most is that there are so many trees of SAFE wood for them , she could of gone it those trees but chose not to. 3.) Badly graded even though my answers where correct. this one is definitely hard to believe for others but my answers were 100% correct. we were given a test and we got given a certain amount of questions , we had to all pick an animal to answer these questions on. One of the questions was based on what the animal eats at certain ages. The animal that I was doing this about (hamsters) - there diets don’t really change at all when they age, which is what i stated. hamsters sometimes need to eat soft foods and foods with more protein in when getting older but this is only in some cases (for an example when the hamster losing fur , weight ext) i lost a crazy amount of grades because apparently this was wrong but i was never corrected or given the right answer?? i asked numerous times for the correct answer so i could study it (i knew i was right just wanted to see what they would say) they never told me the answer or got back to me about it. i left shortly after Staff just don’t care , seems like there not all trained very well"
"Toilet needs fixing or sorting out for the student and staff prospective Visitor wise shouldn't be any issues near main reception/office"
