"What a fantastic place the gentleman that works at Derwent Students Hassell Street is very helpful and kind and has excellent working knowledge his name is Craig and Derwent Students at Hassell Street would not be the same place if he did not work there he is very proactive and gets on with all the students making them feel happy and relaxed well done Craig."
"Overall a decent place, clean, nice room, get what you expect really. Hopefully the pictures show you what the rooms look like better than I can explain. Caretaker is great, very helpful and nice, always on call to help, top guy! Shame management don’t seem quite so invested in the place, want to get by on the bare minimum. Things to know if you go the this place, in the room: bed, desk, desk chair (not super comfortable), wardrobe, lounge chair, tv (can be requested) sink, draining board, 2 hobs, oven, kettle, kitchen storage, fridge freezer, microwave, shower, toilet, sink, bathroom mirror, bike storage downstairs, paid washer dryer downstairs. So things you might need include toaster, bedside table, draining rack, cleaning products including vacuum. Be careful with bike storage, last year a bike was stolen from the rack (guy from outside the building). Also in summer, rooms get unbearably hot, so prepare yourself if it’s a good summer. Location is great, centre of Newcastle, walk to the bus stop, shops, clubs. Post like letters is posted into your separate post box, parcels are buzzed at the door but the intercom didn’t work the whole time I was there so bit useless, had to run downstairs before they left (get it fixed). Like I said overall pretty good, a phew things that drag it down."
"Lived here for a while the fire alarm is to sensitive it goes off no matter what you cook and have had several false alarms. The internet is simply not good enough the quality of service is so poor you're better of using 4g data. 50mb/s for 31 people is a complete joke! That means the available bandwidth is roughly 1.6mb per person. I am incapable of staying online during teams meetings streaming HD video often doesn't work. If I had known it was going to be this awful I wouldn't have rented."
"Lived here since September. Since then, the internet didn't work for 2 straight weeks (just before January exams), the heating (and thus hot water) didn't work for 4 days and my light bulb above my desk - the most necessary one for me to work - needs replacing. I reported it this morning and no one has come to fix it. The maintenance guy is now on his annual leave. The rent is not worth the flat - you can literally get a 3 bed house to yourself for the same price I'm paying for my flat. Also, watch out for Paul the Perv. He is/was the maintenance man when I lived there and he always stared at my butt when I walked past and once even took pictures of me wearing just my bra because he could see into my flat."
"My cousin had a lovely experience staying at these apartments during her degree at Keele Uni. Any issues with the apartments were dealt with, without question. The apartments are clean, modern and very well maintained by Paul. Well done for offering a quiet, clean, comfortable place to stay."
