"For a number of years now, I've been walking by this shop after hours, leaving a drool mark on the window. Today, I finally arrived during opening hours and was not disappointed. This shop is exquisitely curated with something for everyone, of every humor. From fine leather goods, to plush robes, to cards that express the perfect off-beat wit, the Eclectic Hound is a gem of Winchester. It's location adjacent to the cathedral means you have no excuse to miss this treasure. They also ship, and can remotely assist you to find a gift for the most difficult of tastes. "Phenominal, AMAZING, with lovely exquisite gifts and stunningly beautiful clothes. Service was so friendly but not in your face and we were allowed to take our time browsing and purchasing. Many of the sale items were beyond stunning in quality and price. My husband loves the shop and he walked away with a gorgeous tweed jacket at a, 'steal' of a price and myself with some ladies trousers you simply wouldn't see anywhere else. If you want to feel and have that sense of 'happiness' whilst browsing, shopping, selecting a special gift, I can't recommend Eclectic Hound more to you. We drive 1.5 hours to visit because it is so worth while ."

"I'll be honest that I'm one of those people who very rarely ventures on to the High Street. Every town in the UK looks the same and is inundated with the same brands all selling the same stuff...I just can't be bothered to tackle the traffic and the crowds to look at the same old same old. Chain stores full of people who are told what to sell, how to sell and at what price to sell. I gather some of these big companies even have to train their people how to be "nice". "Eclectic Hound" in Winchester is to me what oxygen is to a drowning man...a massive breath of fresh air. It was a complete privilege and a complete pleasure to visit a shop which was full of stuff that was so different from the usual "fodder" you get fed in the chain stores. There was nothing in the shop I had seen elsewhere. It really was quite uplifting and quite frankly made my day. The shop was a so clean and tidy with the stock displayed in a throwback to the "old" days. The young man who helped me out was both polite and courteous with a natural flair for helping rather than selling. He told me he was the owner and was obviously extremely proud of what he was able to offer people. Most people would pass the shop and dismiss it as not being "with it". Personally it was the best shop I have personally visited in the last 20 years and would definitely visit again. Do yourselves a favour and check it out."
