"Haven't been here for years. Was in the area, and saw that it was open, as I thought that it had ceased trading. Climbed the familiar helical staircase and entered the premises. There is now a bar area, which there never used to be, but the dining area seemed quite small. Not much of a wait to bring menus, and ordered food and drinks from friendly, chatty staff. Food arrived without too much of a wait. They used to have decent sized portions. Unfortunately the sign which read come in hungry go away happy, failed to fulfill its promise despite ordering extra onion rings and coleslaw. The burger although nice was not particularly hot either. Would have liked to have given a better review for old times sake, but was sadly a bit disappointed."

"Came here for dinner with my partner and it was exactly what we needed after a long day of shopping and site seeing. Our server Sophia was lovely and couldn't ask for a better host. Super friendly and knew the menu inside and out when I had questions. For starters I had the BBQ wings and my partner had the blooming onion, both were done perfectly. For mains I had the Captain America cheeseburger and my partner had the dirty rooster chicken burger with cheese. Both were amazing and really put you in a good place, full but not bloated. The quality was excellent and you could tell that everything was made fresh - the fries were especially good in my opinion. All of this was reasonably priced considering we had the above and two drinks each and a side as well. Would highly recommend visiting and whilst a lot of other reviews on here complain about it "not being what it used to be" etc. I think with a few more memorabilia items on the walls and the music a little louder it's a great place to spend the evening. We will definitely be coming back to visit in the future."

"A fond favourite of mine for many years...but sadly this was my last visit to Captain A's. Half the delight of eating here was the Americana - number plates on the walls and the fantastic booth seating has all been removed to make it look just like any other industrial restaurant. The play on Captain America has slipped into the menu, with most items now based on Marvel characters, leaving the American aspect behind. My Thor burger was tasty and the fries were piled high, but my partners enemic hotdog was rather lack-lustre. Sadly the thick shakes were dissapointing too and gone within a few sucks of the straw, rather than the challenge of getting it through your straw of old. Whilst the staff were friendly and accommodating, this long held favourite eatery has lost its warmth, chararacter and charm. Good bye old friend"

"Trip into Norwich and had to go back to Captain A's. Last came in 2019 but we have been before that. This time didn't disappoint. Service was really good, food great (very filling BLT) and milkshake was brilliant. Yes,decor has changed but still holds some original charm. Will be back!"

"We took the kids here for lunch and had a nice time. The food was good in the main, however there were a few faults. My partner's diet coke tasted odd, when we looked at the bottle it expired in 2020! This was promptly replaced and many apologies offered. The buns on all the burgers were a little dense from being stale, one was so bad it had to go back, but again this was swiftly replaced and wasn't charged for. The only other issue was that the chips were a bit too salty, albeit we ate them! We very much wanted to love this place, it had clearly been recently redecorated and looked sharp. The service was very friendly and faultless (they also offered a 10% discount for a subsequent visit). I think any one or two of these faults could be forgiven, but it is hard to do so for all of them. I wouldn't not go back, however the competition is stiff and there are many other places worth a try."
