"Delicious Sunday lunch. Good service and selection of ales. Family lunch, two adults two children. Best we have had in this area for a very long time. Out dates décor but does not affect enjoyment, if anything it took me back to visiting with my grandparents when I was a little girl."

"Place was great for kids, lovely outdoors space and play equipment. Shower took a minute to get working but was nice and strong. Room decoration was lovely, very clean. Breakfast at the bar was complimentary and really good."

"On checking in we were asked what rooms were we in?! Should have picked up from that, the service is not quite right. Our rooms had not been prepared; there were dirty tea cups, used towels in the bathroom, beds not made, plus some staining on the sheets. Yuk! The staff person said she would inform the owner to come out and speak to us; he didn't - (which would have gone a long way, to have been given an explanation aswell). But, she did apologise profusely and we were given new, clean rooms; in fact one of us had what seemed like the bridal suite, which was lovely. First night, it was beautifully quiet. Breakfast we were told is served between 7.30am - 10am, yet we were being asked what time would we be coming down for breakfast. If there was a reason behind that question, would have been nice to know. Dinner was nicely cooked, good portions and plenty of vegetarian options. We were unaware the second key on the 'key ring' was to the front door, as it had not been mentioned to us, so we did think we had been locked out, coming back late. I emailed the owner, to help, with no respnse whatsoever. Second night, there was this constant humming type noise, maybe from a cooling unit/air con, which went on throughout the night, becoming lower, early morning. Also early in the morning, awoke to the sound of barrels? being delivered and rolled into storage, below the room! Came down for breakfast next morning at 9am, no-one or breakfast around! Found somebody eventually, in the kitchen, who informed breakfast had been packed up, they finish it at 9am. Informed we were told it's served up until 10am. A little begrudgingly, our orders were taken. Whilst clearing our rooms for checkout, we were reminded of the checkout time - we still had time. Bizzare, when you consider our rooms hadn't even been prepared for US, so why are you ensuring we checkout on time?!"
