Reviews
"Absolutely love this pub, great staff, unpretentious, doesn't pander to the tourists. Dirtiest Jacks in Dublin, but that just adds to the charm."
"I visited here a long time ago, back in 2006. I told someone working there that I’m a Hartigan from the USA. They gave me a free pint of Guinness which was very nice. Also, it started raining before I left and I didn’t have an umbrella. The same person lent me one of theirs and I returned it later in the day. Don’t know why I’m sharing this now, but just remembered the warm and friendly hospitality I received here. Thank you!"
"Great pub, great atmosphere with a brilliant music session every Saturday with the great mix of great musicians. Barman is very friendly and professional and can serve a whole bar on his own and is very sufficient. Love this old school pub.."
"I have never had a more disappointing pub experience in Dublin. At first, the atmosphere was buzzing and our group was having a great time. But as the afternoon wore on the pub began to empty out. As things quietened the atmosphere dropped and the staff began to act hostile (as though the hundreds of euro we were spending were unwelcome). Eventually things culminated in a shocking altercation with the rudest barman on the planet, which resulted in us leaving for a better venue. I would never step foot in this pub again and I would recommend that no one else do so either. They seem content to languish in mediocrity and rely on “regulars”. This is no business model and not sustainable in this economy. I genuinely wish them well as I cannot imagine a business with this ethos succeeding for long."
"Fantastic spit and sawdust pub with few frills and very good Guinness (better than Toner's on my visit) Friendly bartender and just far enough from town to get a seat and some peace. Beautiful stained glass windows. The kind of pub you'd hole up in to sit out a Triffid invasion."
