Welcome to Shabitat - Magpie Recycling Co-op, a unique institution located in the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove. Our co-op is dedicated to sustainability, community engagement, and promoting a circular economy.

Our space operates as a book store, clothing store, furniture store, home goods store, and a point of interest for anyone interested in sustainable living. At Shabitat, we firmly believe that in order to create a sustainable future, we must first focus on repurposing and reusing what we already have.

Our book store is filled with a wide selection of second-hand books on a variety of topics, from fiction to non-fiction, and rare first editions. Our clothing store is stocked with pre-loved clothing in excellent condition, offering a unique and affordable shopping experience. Our furniture store offers one-of-a-kind pieces that are carefully curated and restored to their former glory. From vintage to modern, our selection will impress any design lover. Our home goods store offers a variety of unique items to enhance your living space, including candles, ceramics, and small decor pieces.

At our co-op, we believe that everyone should have access to affordable, high-quality goods while minimizing waste. We work closely with our members, donors, and volunteers to ensure that we’re reducing our carbon footprint while simultaneously supporting local communities.

"WOW what a place Shabitat is a haven for bargain hunters and a necessity for low income families there's objects from the floor to the ceiling and my fish tank actually stands on a piece from this local second hand enterprise Located by Saunders park and off the the first left after the traffic lights just past Sainsbury's I think they deliver too"

"offered a brand new bed for them, explained how they would love it - so turned down other charities and the day comes and all the sudden they turn up and can’t fit it on the van as it’s the last pick up?! surely their planning should have been better to allow them space. super unhelpful when called to rearrange as ‘possibly, could be…’ so basically said yes when another charity could have had it and then due to lack of any planning meant they couldn’t take a perfectly month old bed and another charity could have had it"
