"Hidden gem, off the main routes. Consciously old fashioned decor which subtly combines details from different periods, featuring wood and exposed brick which combine for a cosy, fireside atmosphere. Service was attentive and friendly, and the food fit the setting: a mixture of country pub, continental, and modern classics. The warm scotch egg and the fried chicken strips are both superb examples from the "Snacks" menu. Extensive and selective wine list (another time) and a good range of keg and cask ales on offer, joined by a very decent gin menu. All in all, excellent quality fare at a very reasonable price."

"Fantastic Sunday roast! Cauliflower cheese especially tasty and for a good price too. Veg all tasty and meat cooked to perfection. A friend had the lamb and said it was the best lamb roast he’s ever had. Service was very attentive but unobtrusive; very friendly and created a calm lovely atmosphere."
