"Cracking pub, always a welcome awaiting you here. Great range of real ales and you can bring in your carry out food, plates and cutlery provided by the pub. It's about 10 mins walk from the city centre and well worth the walk. I can recommend Roti Indian restaurant for a carry out - about two minutes walk if you decide to eat in the pub, alternatively there is a fish a chip shop a few doors away (not open on a Monday though!)."

"Had dog bowls outside front of entrance but when entering, was told no dogs allowed inside. Had to sit in patio area with coat on as cold. Barmaid was fantastic, polite, great service with a smile. Landlord sat in corner drinking."

"A proper pub. Great selection for real ale and a great atmosphere when we visited, partly due to the lovely bar maid who chatted with everybody. There are so few pubs like this now. We went in for one drink and stayed much longer than we meant to."
