Bartley's Bar and Restaurant

"Going to have to give a 1 star as a vegan. The staff and environment is LOVELY. but I've honestly never had a worse experience as a vegan in a restaurant ever, sorry to say. The starter was a superfood salad, which was drenched in oil and not tasty at all. The only main... and I'm not kidding, was the entire head of a "spiced" (it wasn't spiced) cauliflower, surrounded by a load of the exact same salad I had as a starter. It's really insulting as a vegan that this was served to me twice. It wasn't said on the menu that it comes with the same salad either. To top it all off, I had an allergic reaction to whatever was in the salad. Would never ever come here to eat again, but a drink absolutely. The staff was lovely and the atmosphere was nice! The waiter was really friendly and funny. I'd reccomend the establishment does a tiny bit of research into veganism before putting items like those on the menu. Most places that don't have vegan options can make things on the fly on request so there's no excuse really in 2023."

"Came here for dinner on a Friday night and they were able to seat the 5 of us. We quickly were able to order drinks but waited a fair amount of time to get them. Dinner, however, came in a very reasonable amount of time and it was excellent. While dining, all conversation was put on hold by a distracting disturbance. A party of 20, with reservations, was told they could not dine there as a few of them were under the age of 18. They were dressed, quite well, and made advanced reservations for this evening so they became quite irate that they could not dine there. I would say understandably. Well, the focus of the evening became this long argument and the next thing we know, our service was MIA. Trying to wrap up the evening took way too long. Just getting our bill was a hassle as our server was avoiding this area. Dinner was great, everything else, too much of a show. We kind of enjoyed ourselves....maybe?"

"The expectation vs reality was a huge factor for this restaurant. We choose this as it was well known and we liked the menu, price was reasonable, no problems at all until we got inside the restaurant. They way we were treated was absolutely disgraceful. A group of us booked this restaurant for a birthday , they refused to serve us by nitpicking age. we were all over 18 + and few 21 +. We couldn’t get a reservation anywhere else as it was too late. We celebrated my friends birthday in Mc Donald, or Burger King. No body should ever have to go through this kind of treatment. Absolutely disgusting."

"We were a party of 17, had a reasonably good meal (choice isn't immense but was enough, shame they didn't have the mussels or calamari). They serve too many chips with the mains, I saw a lot of waste. Was a little slow at times (we were tucked behind the bar so not always visible and took some time to get the bill, which I think may have included some more items than we had received, however was too knackered to go through with a fine tooth comb!). Very friendly staff, especially the manager. I loved the decor!"

"Food was okay and drinks were pretty good. The service was amazing though. The staff was hilarious and super welcoming. Our waitress had great banter and sense of humor that made the experience so much better. Solid option no reservation option if you have a larger group or are looking for something last minute. Also pretty good for a quick drink, if you are looking for cocktails."
