"Sadly I felt this place is very overrated on Google... While I can't fault the service (staff were great) or the atmosphere, the food left a lot to be desired. They seem to be going for the upmarket restaurant type setup, but lack the skills to cook the pieces that suit that. The wood pigeon starter was £10 for 5 tiny slices of overcooked pigeon which was totally overcooked and tough as leather. Mushroom starter was the best dish we had and was good. The sourdough bread that came with the starters was fried, which is a truly bizarre choice - I can't confirm if it was actually sourdough since all you could taste was the oil The kids meals and fish burgers came with no sides or greenery at all - kids just got a plain burger with fries. Very healthy ;) Add to that that the bottom of the fish burger brioche was soggy, disappointing Essentially the food comes with what I'd expect from a takeout but not a restaurant Stock photos on Google here show coleslaw with a burger but that's misleading as it didn't come with that (you have to pay extra it turns out). In fact the presentation showed in these photos was not even close to what we experienced Skate wing was oversalted (even by restaurant standards) and the cask beer was on the turn, clearly been on more than 5 days Honestly, with such a good pub 2mins down the road (Green Dragon), which does cheaper, better and more complete food (you actually get sides...) We were excited to eat here and before we ate has actually planned to go here another night but were truly disappointed by the food so had an extra night at the Green Dragon instead"

"Local Gem! Lush barn with rustic tables, heritage walls and hanging lamps - everything is made to emphasise the beauty of a typical Devon cob building. Thoughtful menu to indulge omnivores and vegetarians alike. I had some of the most indulgent vegetarian main in my life - celeriac stake. Fish options were top notch as well. Desserts didn’t disappoint as well. Do pay a visit - very much worth it."

"Wonderful little restaurant in a gorgeous little village. The food was amazing and a good selection. I just had the fish and chips and the wife the halloumi burger. Good selection for the kids who enjoyed their meal. The atmosphere is really nice with good music and then the bathroom was a big plus for my 4 year old who loves Batman."
