"A lovely setting and hard to believe it is straight off one of the busier roads in Golcar. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the dining area was spotlessly clean. Quick, friendly service and rather large portions which are always welcome!"

"Probably the worst Christmas Dinner experience I have ever had. To start off we were shoved into what seemed like a back storage area with a couple of emergency table and chair set ups. Then took nearly 1.5 hrs to get the starter, which was just thrown down on the table with quite a bit of attitude. After about 40 minutes later our main course turned up. I must admit the steak was cooked to perfection. The only thing that was missing was the other 8 turkey dinners and the accompanying vegetables, which then turned up 20 minutes later. By this time the 2 steak dinners had long been finished. This was mentioned to a member of staff but they just didn't seem bothered. To top the meal off the Christmas pudding turned up cold. To say we spent probably £2500 for this meal and service I would say we will definitely not be dinning there again."

"Went up for my partners birthday for a nice quiet meal. Had a excellent experience! Was greeted by the bar man (I think it's the owner) who was very polite in conversation, very friendly. Then the waiters were also very friendly too! None evasive and just enough to keep you going throughout the meal! Spectacular food (the burgers) which came in excellent time and left feeling very happy and full! Very well run and they all should feel proud of what they do! Top marks!"

"This review is for the rooms only! Bear in mind this is a restaurant/pub with rooms. It is not a hotel. When booking rooms ensure that a function is NOT taking place on the night you are staying as it will be noisy. The rooms are well decorated and in good keeping with the whole ambience of the place. Our room was very well kitted out and the bed very comfortable. We had a walk in shower which was good. Our room had some lovely views overlooking nearby hills. We also had breakfast. Wow! Absolutely fantastic. My full English was a lot of food! with very tasty produce (I was told by the chef it's all locally sourced). My wife's scrambled egg with bacon was very tasty and excellently cooked. The overall breakfast experience was top notch! We will book in here again (but checking to see if they've any parties booked!). I would recommend a room here with the caveats about parties. I've knocked off a star because of the noise of the party. Would be nice to have been told about this when we booked. PS I have eaten here previously and it is somewhere I would recommend."
