"Overall quality of the food and the setting of the restaurant was quite pleasant. The staff seem very insistent for us to let go of our table which was understandable but I felt it was slightly hostile with the constant push to make us go but respectively their food took a while to cook. They did relocate us in the end but still felt the staff were either very stressed or tense whole time."

"I choose Smiths bar and grill for Sunday roast and I loved it. The food was very delicious, also I had bottomless wine for 15£ which was also good. The Christmas decorations at the place are cozy!"

"Be prepared for sparklers! The downstairs section of the bar and grill is a little more lively and had a great time. After seeing other reviews here I would still recommend this place and the set menu. Free flowing booze helped and thought food was to a good quality - just little disappointed by the size of mains !"

"Wasn’t expecting much given the average star review but was pleasantly surprised with our Sunday roast. The food was delicious (although could have done with a larger helping of gravy) and we opted for the bottomless red wine which the waiters kept flowing. I did however feel a bit looked down on when I asked the waiter if we were able to try both red wines before committing to one - and he told me we could only try the more expensive one… next time I think I’ll just risk the other option for £10 cheaper!"

"This was my first time having Christmas lunch in a restaurant and chose Smiths Bar & Grill due to the close proximity to my home and because they were advertising a Christmas experience. It was so disappointing! I had the scallops as a starter which were overbooked and chewy. We then had to wait 45minutes for the main meal to arrive. I had the Turkey and it was awful! The roast potatoes were hard and cold, the sprouts boiled and the portion unsatisfying, so much so that my son had to eat when he got back home as he was still hungry. The place was packed but it felt like the staff were ill equipped to deal with so many customers although they were friendly and pleasant. In terms of the venue, it’s a nice restaurant but as it being Christmas Day, I expected the restaurant to make a little more effort , for e.g Christmas crackers for the diners would’ve been a nice touch or something to make it a little more festive. Even a free drink on arrival would’ve been a nice touch but it really wasn’t much of a Christmas experience. The only positive was the Opera cake for dessert which was very nice. It’s probably a good place to go for a drink but as a place to go for Christmas lunch/dinner with the family, it’s a definite no. It really did put a dampener on our Christmas treat."
