"Class of '89 here. Whilst not exactly relevant to those expecting a modern times review, it was a great school back then. The teachers were so friendly, and everyone just got along. Mr. Mash, Miss Spice, Mr. Fenny, Miss Siddle - to name just a few teachers who I recall at the time. Miss you all."

"I attended the Whitefriars school between 1968 and 1970 , the school was only meant to be a brief experience whilst my parents were buying a house in Brondesbury in London but due to the complicated nature of moving house we ended up by staying in Wealdestone a lotlonger than was originally intended. I was very fond of Art , English and French and luckily for me my form teacher Miss Voight taught all these subjects and she was an excellent teacher. I would love to say my experiences with Whitefriars were all as positive , but I do remember being bullied a lot especially in my first year , my family had just moved into the area in August '68 from the countryside in Suffolk where my sister and I had been raised on my family's farm and as to be expected arriving in Wealdstone at the tender age of 11 from the rather secluded enclaves of rural Suffolk and a primary school which numbered no more than 50 children on the school register between the ages of 5 and 11 left a lasting impression !! Wealdstone came as quite a shock ,especially coming from a Church of England school where attendance at Church was expected and catechism and scriptures taught every week . I don't remember having many RE lessons in my second year as the subject was taught by the headmaster who to be honest was more interested in the School Cruise ! Miss Voigt taught Scripture very well in my first year and I remember her being very pleased with a drawing I made of Joseph being ordered from the house of Potiphar after being accused of propositioning Potiphars wife , which of course was untrue . I am sure things have improved with Whitefriars especially after the recent favourable Ofsted report , but I don't recall being especially pleased with the way the subjects were taught , I actually think that I was placed there as an interim measure as I had passed my 11 plus in Suffolk , but the nearest Grammer school was in Harrow or Stanmore a distance away , and Whitefriars was considered a nearer option . a pity really as Wealdestone is probably more suitable for the pupil who is thinking of a career in Commerce rather than an Academic or Professional Career"
