Reviews
"Great experience. I hate reading things on museum, I prefer to be immersed and talk and THATS the place to go to. You feel you went back in history and in each room you have a very knowledgeable guide sharing her/his anecdotes that are priceless. Best way to learn about history. I got very emotional having in my hands an original copy of a newspaper dated a week after the french revolution (I am french ^^). Thank you so much for your warm welcome and passionate helpers !"
"It is really a hidden jewel in town. This place wasn’t recommended in any of the guides I consulted for things to do in Edinburgh and got here only thanks to a local girl’s advice. What I loved most was the brilliant mind of the volunteers I encountered in each room of the house: special people with kind hearts and a very professional attitude. They put me at ease and told me incredible stories about the lifestyle of the period. I learnt a lot and went out full of gratitude. So thank you for your daily effort and I recommend everybody who’ll read my review to go and visit the Georgian house. You won’t be disappointed: everything is cured in detail. And please have a chat with the guides: they are plenty of interesting knowledge to share and it is all included in the ticket! A special mention to the elegant and sweet old lady who supervised the living room on the first floor next to the drawing room: I can not remember her name but I’ll cherish our conversation for the rest of my life."
"As a huge fan of Jane Austin’s work I had to visit this place. It’s an amazing depiction of life of the highest class at the time. Every room has a guide who is very knowledgeable and eager to explain many details about the house, and life of its residents. You will learn so much! This was one of my favorite museums in Edinburgh."
