"The solicitor was, to be honest, quite a mean person and didn't seem to approach our situation with much professionalism or care. I can understand it is a difficult job to meet many clients, but she would not even remember me or my husbands name let alone remember important details of the application. She didn't let us know, before we made the trip to her office, that she would require payment on the spot and gaslighted us into saying she did. Though I was unprepared, luckily I was able to make the payment, but putting two (might I add, young and inexperienced) people through that during, clearly, a difficult period of their lives is pretty awful. We were confused throughout, and it didn't help that she was constantly disorganised. She didn't share the application details, which made it difficult to understand the next procedure and didn't barely helped us once our application was rejected. There was a complete lack of care; picking up the phone to call her genuinely was difficult for me every single time, and it felt like she ultimately took advantage of our naivety. We could have gone back to her, and applied another way as she suggested, but we decided to move on to another solicitor which provided the services we required and got our application accepted with the proper support and advice. Good luck in the future and I hope that going forward you treat clients with a little more empathy."
