"Functional! Although no information is readily available about it's history and function, I have contacted United Utilities that kindly gave the following reply: "Chamber R takes surface water drainage from St. Margarets Road. The water then passes through a concrete structure that settles and separates out any silt & leaf debris that is washed down through the road drains. The left over raw water is then distributed back into the system to continue the water treatment cycle.""
