"I pride myself on my appearance and ever since I was young I would receive complements about my skin tone and how clear my skin is. I entered this salon with a hat on, fully covering my hair from the bad weather. I was greeted by a woman and asked me how she could help. I explained that I would like my hair done. She looked at me as if I was wearing underwear on top of my head instead of a hat and replied we don't do black hair, black afro hair. I knew what she meant but was tempted to embarrass her by showimg her my non afro hair under my hat and reveling the total opposite of what she did not want to face. There're is no place for any kind of racism. I often get random people complements over the years from woman and men of all cultures but never this . I always have a smile on my face but that day I exited that salon with my first taste of racism!"

"I went to this salon, showed the picture to the lady and explained to her exactly how I wanted my nails. She kept telling me to trust the process which I found very unprofessional . When I got out of the salon I sent her a message because I thought it would be nicer than saying it all in front of the clients in the salon. She then gave me a call back and she said that she can only take them off on a Sunday. But with the condition that I only come for one hour. She kept saying that she has commitments and she can’t fix my nails. She also said that she works with suppliers and that she cannot afford to redo the set as it would cost her money. She refused a refund, she refused to redo my set and she also kept pushing me to come back to the salon even though I explained that I was rushing and had to get ready for my flight. She asked me to come in on a Monday because that was convenient for her to soak them off because like she said “it was easy” and quick but without offering to redo them. Asked for a complimentary fill in and she refused then she changed her story and she said that she offered me all the possible options. I wasted £35 for nothing. The manager of the salon simply said that the nail lady is self employed and basically has nothing to do with the salon which from a customer perspective is nothing that has to do with me."

"Book haircut for my 12 year old daughter. I chose the salon because it had good reviews on treatwell and the price seemed reasonable for a kid's haircut. Upon arriving I was told that the cost would be £25 instead of £15 as it states on treatwell. Upon asking why, they told me that they can't have all the details on the app, which is strange, as other salons do have extensive services list. I don't mind the £25, although a little steep for a kid's haircut, but I don't appreciate being fooled. Went ahead with the haircut, as my daughter was set on having her haircut and Mel did a really good job but can't help feeling a little scammed."

"I had my hair washed, cut and blow-dried at this salon. I was pleasantly surprised that Mel was able to recreate my vision exactly how I imagined and described it to her. Unfortunately, when my service was complete and I approached the till, my jaw literally dropped at the asking price. Despite calling ahead of time and confirming that a wash, cut and blow-dry would cost £35 and also checking their price-list on Treatwell, I was asked to pay £65. Clearly, there is a massive difference between those two prices. They proceeded to try and justify the difference based on my hair length but, even then, this did not make sense as a wash, cut and blow-dry for long hair on their Treatwell price list is indicated to be £45. During my visit, not one other customer walked in and it really felt like I was paying the price for a quiet day at the salon. I have read other reviews regarding inconsistent pricing and scamming of customers - it seems to be a shared sentiment. I would seriously recommend that, if you do visit, you confirm the price prior to seating as, due to my good faith in their online price list and conversation with the manager on the phone in the morning, I did not think to do this and had to pay the unjust premium. Great hairdressing skills by Mel, but unfortunately will not visit again as they ripped me off, in the plainest sense of the term."

"Had my hair cut here a few times, my hair is very short. The first cut was great, but they got worse each time, but i decided to give Havva the benefit of the doubt and go back again months later for tidy up as I couldn't get an appointment elsewhere at short notice. I only asked for a trim and shape up as I WAS trying to grow my hair a bit. Mistake.. I could honestly have cut it better myself. Its uneven and way too short AGAIN!! I won't be going back anymore!"
