"Attended a wedding reception at the end of August. Location is lovely but the food was atrocious. Two absolutely awful buffets were served to guests with the lowest quality food I have ever tasted. Pringles served with tinned olives on the tables and soggy appetisers on sliced bread. Buffet was sandwiches, and other cheap beige food. Apparently this was not what had been ordered but i wouldn’t have served this food to my dog. Also rude aggressive manager shouting at children who were just being children and running about. Beware if you are thinking about a wedding here, they may just not provide the menus you have paid for!"

"My wife woke up and decided we should go out for Sunday lunch so I googled “riverside restaurants near me” and got the best ever recommendation in The Halliford Mere Lakes. What a find. Fantastic customer service and superb food in a wonderful setting. Currently working off a reduced menu to enable chef to produce top quality dishes given the restrictions on supplies caused by the market and the heat. Clever use of the best ingredients available and enough choice to satisfy the most critical palate. We even managed a beautiful walk through the trout lakes before desert and delicious decaf filter coffee. Lots of extra brownie points for my choice of venue at short notice. We WILL be back!"

"How have we never been here before?? What a stunning location, with lovely staff and wonderful food. We pre-ordered a lobster thermidor, as a special treat for my son to celebrate him achieving his degree... And he confirmed (after a long period of mouthwatering silence) it was delicious!! We also had giant prawns and a dressed crab.. plus some non fish dishes for my non fish loving husband!! We had a fabulous evening and we will return!!"
