Reviews
"Only recently started going here but the food is fantastic and the owner is brilliant, such a nice person to be able to chat to and have a laugh with!"
"Just want to say that my mini fish special was lovely Could I ask would you consider making batter that is gluten free as that would be amazing thanks again"
"Only tried because the regular one around the corner was too busy. Peas were mushy but didnt taste like dried, soaked peas tasted more like tinned peas. Chips were bright orange, can only assume food colouring was used in the batter..... the fish batter was a completely different colour, more of a natural batter but sadly the fish had a few bones in it....the latter quite a rarity in chip shops now. Each to their own but wouldnt eat from here again. Well thankyou Sandbank for a reply to my review. Yes I sat on your carpark however I did not eat the entirety of my meal because it wasn't enjoyable, my husband had what he wanted from it then it sat on my dashboard until be diposed of our rubbish. I have to say he ate his and this is the difference with some ppl - he isn't infused about food but simply uses it as a fuel whereas others prefer to eat food that they enjoy. I dont mind chips with batter but these were difficult to decipher as they were plain orange chips with batter bits amongst them.I ate half a portion and used a 3rd of a lg pot of peas. I ate the batter off the fish which was quite nice as it was thin and crispy - but As for the fish, regardless of where the "cut" was from its been a long time since I have had bones. I appreciate our heritage Black Country way of frying and will be the first to say battered chips are awsome if the batter is of a natural colour... bright orange didn't do it for me. There was a lot of controversy surrounding food colouring and for a while the use of it was aborted way bk in chip shops. The reason i didn't return the goods is its first time tried and tested and I wouldnt have wanted a replacement meal as i do appreciate the cost involved ( too silly for my own good) I also appreciate the struggling climate we face so didn't expect or want a refund. Reviews are there for a reason they aren't meant to offend and as I said its each to their own, other ppl may find the food wonderful I didn't. Old habbits die hard - my husband hates waste, proven when he suffers some terrible home cooked concoctions and says " Thankyou Love that was very nice" to me. Im not in the habbit of giving negative reviews, im well into my latter years, eat out a lot due to work & time commitments and can count very few given in many years - but pls feel free to highlight, copy and print those that you have seen from me. A party of 7 I was eating out with recently had their money refunded because 5/7 of the meals had problems. The manager couldn't apologise enough, I personally felt embarassed for her so took it upon myself to assure her ( moi who's apparently always complaining ) it wasn't a problem. The criticism was accepted by management and totally respected by other customers who had complained too. I apologise for sitting on your carpark to eat - you will have noticed 2 cars the other being my Husbands, he'd just finished work and i was preparing for mine hence "car meal" The latter didnt appear to pose as a problem as i can only recall one car pulling alongside us in that time. I will gladly remove my comment if you find it offensive, as that was certainly not my intention - but during my time in the food industry & retail a customers opinions were always welcomed; whether positive or negative to enhance the business. I believe you are under new management ( correct me if im wrong) and I sincerely hope you go on to be very successful. Kind regards Lorraine."
"Went here for green Halloween chips! We asked for a green fish too, owner and staff were friendly and happy to oblige! Very good quality and a decent price. Highly recommended!"
"I realise places have to do "something different " to make their business stand out, but dying your recooked chips red and green is definitely not the way to do it. Haven't been to Sandbank for at least 18 months, obviously has had a change (or two) of management since then. I'm guessing the (in my opinion) ignorant man who came out from the back and didn't acknowledge me, a customer, was the new owner. However the young lady serving was pleasant and seemed friendly. The fish was cooked fresh, we had no problem with that, but the chips were absolutely awful. I realise it is very difficult to run a business in this current climate, but fundamentally you need to ensure people want to come back."
