Zaalsha Indian Restaurant 22-24 Abbey Road, Bearwood, Smethwick B67 5RD

"It's arguably "the" place to go to in the area based on the dining room presentation and great service. We couldn't find fault with anything, but obviously the food is down to personal preference. The presentation of the sheekh kebab was excellent, served on a skillet with an impressive looking salad. As we shared the starter they generously provided an additional salad plate. I like my food packed with flavour and a bit of heat. Similarly do does the wife but with much less heat. Just for a change I went with a sag pathia, the wife a dupiaza. Superb chicken in both our mains, and we enjoyed the sides. One odd thing was that the Kulfi dessert comprised of two of those "dalek" looking portions. Not the cheapest around but well worth it especially as you can take your own alcohol. Parking may be an issue but it's definitely worth a short walk if needed."

"Nice interior and good service. Starters and sides very good and tasty but mains all tasted the same. The base gravy used lacked flavour so the dishes had quite a bland taste. A shame as everything else was good."
